Parik Petrossian was born of Armenian parents in Teheran and has been living
in Germany for a long time. In her dedication to classical music she
concentrates very emotionally on traditional Armenian songs. This recording
consists of a wide range of traditional Armenian songs including famous
composers like Komitas and Galandarian. Parik Petrossian was introduced to
compositions by Nikol Galandrian at an early age by her father, Minas
Petrossian, who was not only a member of Galandrian's choir, but also a
solist interpreter. Up to a very high age he wa an enthusiastic performer of
many songs as a tenor. Minas Petrossian is now 97 years old and lives with
his family in Los Angeles, California.
Elena Chonova, born in Moscow, studied Music focussing on piano at
Gnessin-Academy Moscow, where she passed with „distinction“ in 1992. In 1993
and 1994 she took part in the Rachmaninoff-Festival in Moscow as well as in
the Competition „Jeunesse Musicale“, in Belgrad. With a DAAD Scholarship she
studied two years under Prof. Konrad Richter at State University for Music
in Stuttgart, Germany. Elena Chonova is a teacher at University for
Music/Piano, performs as a Solist and is a successfull piano accompanyist.
